Stories I Started But Didn’t Finish. Which One’s Deserve Completion?

Say It Loud! I’m Racist And I’m Proud (A Pictoral Essay of Trump’s America)

Never got past the title on this one.

Will Joe Biden Maintain A Huge Share Of Black Votes?

Joe Biden entered his campaign for President leading by a large margin, much of it provided by black voters It mat seem counter-intuitive that Biden would be the recipient of so many black votes given there are two black United States Senators in the race; Cory Booker and Kamala Harris. Black voters are highly pragmatic and are hesitant to throw their support to someone they believe cannot win. A June poll showed Biden getting 40% of the black vote. After the thrashing…

When Conservatives Try To Tell You What You Need To Be Concerned About

I often visit a legal blog,

“Tis Better To Have Loved And Lost…”

Alfred Lord Tennyson once wrote, “Tis better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all.” I’m observing more and more that singles of my generation are giving up on the prospects of love, deciding the risk of losing it, greater than they could bear.

They tell themselves and others that they want love but create insurmountable barriers to preclude any possibility. Love doesn’t come with a warranty and should it fail you don’t get your investment in time, money, and emotions back.

This settling for not love manifests itself in many ways with even more justifications. Some wistfully dream of love but create an impossible standard, forged to avoid the shortcomings of all that came before. Any imperfection is sufficient to eliminate potential candidates whilst the person in judgment can pretend they’re, “still trying.” More than once I’ve heard women want someone to be, “like my father.” Reflecting on the unconditional love shown them over a lifetime. Others with a different paternal relationship, pine for what their father never was to them.

Men in their pride and stoic resolve, typically can’t admit even to themselves that they long for love. Instead, they settle for something less which gets them some of the trappings without those sticky commitments and the risk associated with them. Some women do the same, having “friends” on their own terms, giving themselves the illusion of control.

The bottom line is that fear is far more dominant than hope and people are choosing to avoid love, even stay in loveless marriages and relationships. All for not wanting to put themselves through the emotional upheaval that comes with falling in and out of love.

The Trump Presidency. How Did You Really Think This Would End?

I probably will get to this one.

When the government does something so heinous they have to hide what they’re doing, you know it’s bad. They have released a few photos of teenage boys playing video games, mostly a different group of immigrants than those forcefully separated from their parents at the border. No sign of the girls and toddlers? Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Director Kirstjen Nielson said she “didn’t know,” where the girls were? She also said the Trump administration doesn’t have the policy to separate children from their parents, although Chief of Staff John Kelly, Senior Advisor Stephen Miller, and even President Donald Trump say differently. Nobody has said where the girls and toddlers are?

We’ve heard from a few of the girls on an unauthorized audiotape released by Pro Publica. We heard young girls, reportedly between ages 4–6, crying for their parents. Calling for their mama or papa, in one case asking if her aunt could pick her up? Those young girls are somewhere… the government won’t tell us.

Trump doesn’t want you to see pictures beyond the few his DHS department has released. They tell us of comfort, security, health services, and games. Cameras are not allowed in. Elected officials are mostly turned away. Those few that have seen inside speak of cages, mylar blankets spread out on the floor, what under any other circumstance would be called child abuse of the boys that have been seen. Where are the girls? Where are the toddlers? Why won’t the government show us or tell us? Our government is now being compared unfavorably to Boko Haram, holding girls hostage to attain a political gain. What trauma is Trump willing to inflict to get his wall?

The United Nations Human Rights Council has condemned America for its policy of stripping children from their parents. Trump and U.N. Secretary Nikki Haley responded by withdrawing its membership in the Human Rights Council. The United States and Human Rights are no longer to be mentioned in the same sentence without drawing attention to the hypocrisy of the Trump Administration. Where are the girls? Where are the toddlers?

Trump blames the Democrats on what he and Sessions did. John Kelly spoke of this very policy a year ago. The latest polls show 55& of Republicans are in favor of this zero-tolerance policy. If Republicans hate so much being seen as racist, perhaps they should stop doing racist things?

The children fleeing to this country from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Mexico are seeking refuge from the certain terror and possibly death they face at home from gangs and cartels. They undertake dangerous journeys under the calculation that it is the only chance for safety and perhaps life itself. Some are under threats of being killed unless they pay money they do not have. They get to America… land of the free, only to see their children kidnapped, some never to be returned, until Trump blackmails the legislature to give him what he wants, using children as pawns.

Sooner than later, the girls and toddlers will be found and the conditions they have been placed in will be revealed. What will be the result of the trauma these children and their parents are facing at the hands of Donald Trump, Jeff Sessions, John Kelly, Kristjen Nielson, and the 55% of Republicans that support them. The girls and toddlers will be found, their stories will be told, and the blame will be certain. But for now… where are the girls? Where are the toddlers?

I usually write a story in one sitting. Some require additional research but I turn off all distractions and write until I’m finished. These are the stories where that didn’t happen and for whatever reason never got finished. I have from time to time mined the unfinished stories and completed them. These are the orphans. Let me know which ones deserve life?

Ben Carson is a Really, Really, Smart Guy!

That Ben Carson is smart is one of those things that must be true. He graduated from Yale University and the University of Michigan Med School. He’s written several books. He literally did brain surgery, he was the first to perform multiple types of surgeries including certain surgeries on a fetus inside the womb and successfully separating twins conjoined at the head. The man’s a genius, the real kind not the stable one.

It hurts me to see him portrayed as stupid just because of a few, okay lots of bad decisions and how bad he looks every time he testifies before Congress. Let’s make one thing clear, Ignorance is not Stupidity! One can not know a damn thing about a subject. Like Carson knows nothing about housing, and still be a really smart guy. Ben Carson is a really smart guy!

So what he’s the Housing Secretary and doesn’t know what REO (Real Estate Owned) properties are. I know but that’s only because I was once a Realtor and dealt with them every day. Ben is an administrator and can’t be expected to know every little thing about housing, even if it represents a huge percentage of what his department is responsible for. Every buyer I worked with knew what REO’s are as they made up a huge part of the market. Every real estate investor in America knows, many small children are aware of REO’s. I suspect everyone in the entire Housing Department is aware of the term. They’ve got him covered.

Ben Carson makes occasional mistakes, we all do. He’s an important busy man and doesn’t have time to keep up with everything he’s responsible for. If he gets a few details wrong from time to time, those aren’t really lies, just misremembrances. When in high school, he says he turned down a scholarship from West Point (which doesn’t offer scholarships). He says he sheltered some white kids during a Detroit race riot though nobody remembers him doing that. Carson says his SAT scores precipitated a Detroit Free Press article that can’t be found, “Carson Gets Highest SAT Scores in Twenty Years” of any student in Detroit public schools. Carson’s scores placed him in the 90th percentile. In Minneapolis, I placed in the 95th percentile and was third in my Sunday School class.

Earlier this week, Carson testified before Congress that he “had no plans to alter” an Obama-era rule protecting LBGTQ people in Federally funded shelters. The next day, his department published proposed rule changes gutting the existing provisions. Rep. Jennifer Wexton, called for his resignation saying the following, “He either lied to Congress or has no idea what policies his agency is pursuing. Either way, it’s unacceptable.” Being a liar doesn’t mean you’re stupid, just dishonest.

That whole situation with the dining room table was blown way out of proportion and could have happened to anyone. What had happened was… his wife was the one who actually spent $31,000 on a dining room set. Maybe it was questionable the way threw her under the bus when deflecting blame but that’s a character flaw and has nothing to do with I.Q.

There are some that say Ben Carson was way over his head when he campaigned for President and again as the head of the Housing Department. His campaign spent over $58 million with almost all going to political consultants and fundraising. Almost none went towards advertising, everybody around him was getting paid though. When he was first named as a possible political appointee. One of his friends said, “The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.” There were concerns when he was named the Housing Secretary that his inexperience would be a liability. Inexperience is not stupidity.

In an attempt to find congruency between his brain surgery background and his faux pas as Trump Cabinet member. Some have gone as far as to suggest Carson has some type of autism. He’s an idiot savant when it comes to medicine but helpless in other areas of his life. I reject that notion, Ben Carson is one of the smartest men that ever lived, he must be, isn’t he?

Trump Won’t Be The 2020 Republican Nominee

It’s time for Democrats and Republicans alike to prepare for the possibility, no, the probability that Donald Trump won’t be the Republican nominee in 2020. Trump has attempted to brush aside all the investigations into how he got elected, ties to Russia financial and otherwise, and the illegal ways he operated his business and alleged charity. Ironically, the thing that will do him in, is the thing that helped him win in the first place, television.

We’ve reached the stage where Michael Cohen’s public appearance before the House Oversight Committee signals the beginning of Trump’s end. Although we did learn a few new things, like seeing a few years of Trump’s financial records and proof he committed crimes while in the White House. Most of what we witnessed was already known. The important thing was the widespread coverage on television, and it’s only the beginning.

In addition to reaching millions of voters that previously weren’t paying close attention. Each new televised hearing will spawn more investigations by the Justice Department and Attorneys General from the states, and of course, the media will continue investigating him relentlessly. Already, Rachel Maddow’s team has reviewed his financial statements and found evidence of bank fraud by overvaluing one of his properties by approximately 1,000% in order to secure a loan from Deutsche Bank.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez skilled questioning produced a trail of witnesses to Trump’s crimes and established the need to acquire the entirety of his financial records which Trump has kept us from seeing against existing protocol. Allen Weisselberg, the CFO of The Trump Organization has already been subpoenaed by the House of Representatives as a result of Cohen’s testimony. Elijah Cummings, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has promised to follow the trail of witnesses established in the Cohen hearing. All the hearings won’t be televised, but enough will, and they will continue to put pressure on the President.

Along with the continuous coverage of the Presidents crimes, conspiracies, and lies. His polling will go down as the ratings go up. You’ll know the Republican Party has given up on Trump when you see a sudden rush of Primary challengers for the Republican nomination. When the fear of Trump’s base gives way to the widespread recognition, not that he’s a criminal which is more or less a given. But that he can’t win, and he’s bringing the whole party down with him. There’s always the possibility that resignation will be part of a deal to avoid his prosecution and/or members of his family?

Rest assured, potential Republican challengers are making secret plans to be the literal white knight to rescue the Party from the chaos that is Trump. Presenting themselves as the rational alternative to the man circling the political drain. It’s the Democrats who must have a strategy besides running against Donald J. Trump. What if the only message they have is, “Trump is bad,” and it turns out he isn’t on the ballot?

At the moment, enough Republicans have tied themselves to the Trump anchor that it’s hard to see a Republican victory. But it’s a long time between now and the election in November of 2020. Democrats need to have a plan for a different Nominee, I think it’s what we’re likely to get.

Where Is John McCain’s Other Daughter, Bridget McCain?

You might already know the story? John McCain’s wife was in Bangladesh visiting Mother Theresa’s Orphanage to try to help the children there. She encountered two young girls there, one with severe heart problems and another with a severe cleft palate. Frustrated at her inability to get assurance these children would be taken care of, she made arrangements to bring both girls back to the United States with her. One of the girls (Mickey) was adopted by family friends and the McCain’s adopted Bridget.

During John McCain’s first run for the Presidency in 2000, he was favored to win the South Carolina primary and likely the Republican nomination. Karl Rove, on behalf of George W. Bush who was trailing McCain in the polls. Put out a phone poll asking, “Would you be more or less likely to vote for John McCain… if you knew he fathered an illegitimate black child?” McCain lost the primary and the nomination due to the slander perpetrated by the Bush Campaign.

In the wake of John McCain’s recent death from a form of brain cancer. I can’t help but notice the absence of coverage featuring his daughter Bridget? On multiple networks I see images of wife Cindy, his 106 year old mother Roberta, TV news personality Meghan McCain appears in every news story. Fox News ran a story about McCain’s wife and children sharing messages of love. Bridget was mentioned as existing but no photo or indication of her response to her father’s death.

Bridget as of this writing doesn’t have a Wikipedia page, her last post on her Facebook page was in 2017. She made a couple public appearances when McCain ran again for President in 2008. She also gave an interview about her father that same year in Scholastic magazine. She attended Arizona State University. There isn’t much more public information about the now 27-year-old Bridget and I wonder why?

I have no conspiracy theory, it may well be her preference to remain out of the limelight? It may be something else as well? Here’s wishing condolences to Bridget the missing daughter, who is grieving as well.
