The Trump Presidency: Who Knew “Bust” Would Be This Bad?

There were those who said if their candidate wasn’t the Presidential nominee, they would rather not vote. “Bernie or Bust” didn’t apply only to the supporters of Bernie Sanders but tens of millions of voters who sat out the 2016 Presidential Election, thinking it just didn’t matter. Politicians of either party were basically the same or those who wanted to see chaos, hoping something greater might rise from the ashes. I suspect now that we’ve actually seen a year of a Trump Presidency. Nobody knew it would be this bad.

It didn’t take long for signs to become clear. The very first White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told us not to believe our lying eyes and that the Trump Inauguration was the largest ever. In spite of pictures, estimates from the National Park Service and any known measurement that said it wasn’t true. The administration continued to push the lie, hoping to wear the media and public down with repetition instead of facts.

a a a a a a a a bustt

Just before the inauguration, we heard of the Steele Dossier reporting secret meetings of Trump Campaign officials and Russian agents. It mentioned Trump’s attempts to do business with Russia. The White House denied all this but proof of several meetings had come to light along with evidence of Trump’s personal lawyer pushing the concept of Trump Tower Moscow.

24 days into the Administration, NSA Director Michael Flynn had to resign after being found to have lied to the FBI about his clandestine meetings with Russia. We later found he’d been an undeclared agent for Turkey, accepting undisclosed millions in payment along with his son. He later pled guilty to the charge and is a cooperating witness in the Mueller Investigation.

The Mueller Investigation exists because Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, later telling his Russian friends including the Russian Ambassador in the Oval Office that it, “takes the pressure off.” In the same meeting, Trump disclosed Top Secret information about another country’s intelligence resources, possibly risking lives.

All the while the lies kept coming, Sean Spicer soon lost his job after being parodied by a woman on Saturday Night Live. Trump was embarrassed by the portrayal so he had to go, leading to a string of Press Secretaries whose credibility ultimately ran out until we got to Sarah Huckabee Sanders who gave up any pretense of truth-telling and is America’s best comparison to Tokyo Rose. I’d be remiss to omit Kellyanne Conway and her, “alternative facts.”

Trump exited the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), ceding that area of growth to China. He dropped out of the Paris Accords, thumbing his nose at climate change. He most recently imposed steel and aluminum tariffs on a whim, most likely to change the headlines from the porn star he paid off to hide his affair. One of the things Stormy Daniels is prohibited from talking about is “paternity,” raising the question as to whether Trump impregnated her and whether she had an abortion, or there’s yet another Trump offspring roaming the earth.

He has yet to respond to Russia’s meddling in the 2016 Election, clearing the way for renewed attempts in 2018 and 2020. Congress authorized sanctions which he didn’t enforce. They allocated funds which he didn’t spend. It’s alleged that Russia vetoed Trump’s original choice for Secretary of State because Mitt Romney was too hardline against Russia. Instead, we got Tillerson who has gutted the State Department.

Well over a hundred people were working in the White House without security clearances. It took a man who has battered his two ex-wives to bring it to light and even then, it took a picture of one with a black-eye to get any action. Statements praising Rob Porter were issued by the White House, written by his present girlfriend (Hope Hicks) who had previously dated the former married campaign manager Corey Lewandowski less than a year before.

a a a a a a hopeblack eye

One of those without clearance was son-in-law Jared Kushner who has been doing personal business deals in the White House, negotiating over a half-billion in loans for his family business which he still partially owns. He is part of several undisclosed meetings with Russians and the Mueller Investigation appears to have him targeted as well.

When is the last time we went a day, let alone a week without new breaking news about one scandal or another? One Cabinet member is trying to explain replacing the doors in his office for almost $139,000. Inept Ben Carson spent $31,000 on an office dining room table. One flew almost everywhere on private or military planes. One took his wife to Fort Knox on his honeymoon (at the taxpayer expense) while another had the public pay for him and his wife to go to Wimbledon. Trump himself spends a third of his time on his own properties, charging the secret service to stay there and protect him and doubling membership fees, selling access to the President.

a a a a a ben carsonn

Trump has supported Neo-Nazi’s, white nationalists, skinheads, bringing some of them like Stephen Miller to work in the White House and write many of his speeches. While constantly tweeting his contempt for Jeff Sessions the Attorney General, he’s turned him loose to increase voter suppression and hyper mass incarceration in his attempt to Make America White Great Again.

Trump’s threatened war with several countries, nuclear war with some including North Korea who he’s taunted at every turn. He recently agreed to talks with the equally insane North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, except even that is likely to fall apart because of Trump’s vacillations. It would likely be worse if the “great negotiator” actually met with Kim Jong Un and follows his history of being swayed by the last person he talked to. He managed to screw up Republican attempts to repeal Obamacare despite controlling all branches of government. What could go wrong?

This Presidency has never been about serving the nation and almost every morning we wake up to tweets which send politicians, psychologists, and English teachers scurrying.

I know I’m leaving out a lot, Roy Moore, 19 women claiming sexual assault and/or rape over the years, attacks on black athletes, horrible spelling and grammar, Steve Bannon, Omarosa… More thought on how bad things are will cause me to lose sleep. If ever any of you consider not voting because, “How bad could it be?” Remember Donald Trump.

A House Without Honor

We’ve officially run out of hope there was anyone in the White House with some semblance of honor. None we can trust in discussing the smallest of matters, let alone the big ones. The nation knew what it was getting in Donald Trump, serial cheater with an extensive background of sexual assault and financial bad faith. Liar extraordinaire.

Let Them Eat Cake

There was some hope that those around him would do better, perhaps appeal to his better self should it exist. We were told he’d assembled an excellent National Security team. Men of honor who would put country first ahead of politics. Flynn, Tillerson, Pompeo, and Mattis. Gen. Mike Flynn lasted 24 days before resigning after reports of undisclosed meetings with Russians and being an undeclared foreign agent for Turkey. Tillerson has presided over the gutting of the State Department and the world sees him as castrated, unable to speak for the President without being overridden by a tweet. Pompeo recently proclaimed the Intelligence Agencies concluded Russia had no impact on the Presidential election when they said no such thing. Mattis initially fought the good fight but soon crumbled. becoming just another sycophant. Pence sold his soul long ago and Sessions is on a one=man tear to bring back mass incarceration and further legalize voter suppression. Carson is a joke!

The professional liars that speak for the President; Spicer and Scaramucci are long gone, soulless Sanders misinforms us now with guest appearances on television by Kellyanne. Bannon left but exerts more power on the President and his Party than ever before. Someone has to coordinate with the Neo-Nazis, skinheads, and white supremacists.

Jared was that bright young man that was our next, best hope. It seems he’s had even more Russian contacts than Flynn and almost as many conflicts of interest as his father-in-law. He hired some of the best criminal defense attorneys in the country, beating the run on criminal lawyers by pretty much the rest of the Administration as they ready themselves for Special Counsel Mueller’s questions. We won’t mention Manafort who didn’t even make it through the campaign before millions in Ukranian cash payments from pro-Putin oligarchs tripped him up. The FBI assures him he’ll be indicted.

It seemed the only honorable person left in the White House was Gen. Kelly. That was before he stood behind the White House podium and lied about a speech by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson. Of course, Sarah Huckabee Sanders stands by the lie which makes it doubly false. He was “stunned” that the Congresswoman, “listened in” to a call from the President to the widow of a fallen Green Beret. This while Kelly and “several others” according to Sanders were listening in when the President made the call.

Trump Word(s) For The Day: F*cking Moron

As part of my patriotic duty, I will begin sharing the word(s) of the day to help our President prepare for what’s coming. Because he doesn’t seem to attach the same meaning to words like honesty, news, Constitution, and transparency. I feel that if given a little time to consider the actual meanings of words he can do better. I will provide both the common definition and when applicable the urban translation. Today’s words: F*ucking Moron

We have a guest contributor to thank for today’s words, Rex Tillerson the Secretary of State. NBC reported at a July 20th meeting at the Pentagon with top National Security officials and Cabinet Members. Tillerson called Trump a “Fucking moron.” It’s unclear what in particular Tillerson was referring to as there are so many possibilities but his sentiment was clear.

a a a a moron

Tillerson had a hastily called press conference in which he indicated he had no intention of resigning and hadn’t considered doing so. He didn’t deny having made the statement saying, “I’m not going to deal with petty stuff like that.” Trump tweeted the whole thing was “fake news” saying Tillerson “totally refuted” the story which of course he didn’t.

Urban Translation: Fucking moron is the same in all languages. There is no urban translation in this instance.

The Thicker Than Usual Fog of War

The “Fog of War” relates to the misinformation and chaos that surrounds battle where people don’t have a true understanding of what’s going on. This is usually true in all war situations to a degree. Even those in the battle themselves have a limited perspective and remain unaware of the whole picture. When it comes to the Tump ordered attack on Syria. The fog will be thicker than usual because everyone making public statements is likely to either lie or truly doesn’t know.

We know Trump will lie to us. Why? Because he lies about everything else. He lies about crowd size, surveillance of his campaign, providing inexpensive healthcare to all, caring for the environment, his relationships with women and most of all Russia. Because Russia is involved we know he’s lying.

The Secretary of State Tillerson, makes it a point of not speaking to the American public. An occasional prepared statement, no press conferences. Nikki Haley the UN Ambassador has been a more effective Secretary of State than Tillerson who doesn’t have much to do after you subtract all the areas of the world handled by Jared Kushner. The one statement Tillerson has made was that the US didn’t notify Russia, except for the way they informed Russia to clear the area. There are news reports from admittedly questionable sources that Syria knew we were attacking.  Russia and Syria tell us that 16 people wee killed including 9 civilians. Thee is little way to verify if that’s true. No report of Russian or Iranian soldiers killed who were likely at that base. America says that 58 of 59 tomahawk missiles hit their target. One might wonder what happened to the other missile? Assuming the original number was correct.

Trump tells us he had a legal right to order the strike without consulting Congress which violates our laws and without an international consensus violating International standards. Other Presidents have done similar things when attacking alleged terrorists. Only Trump has attacked a foreign army and tries to convince us it wasn’t an act of war. The Congress that should object to the usurping of their power to declare war, responds along party lines. Party before country as is far too common of late.

Trump blames Obama for inaction in 2013, forgetting that Congress failed to act on the former President’s request to approve military strikes. Republicans in Congress blame Obama ignoring their own failure to address the issue. Almost every statement issued by a politician is far more about achieving a political goal than telling truth.

Even the extent of the “formidable Strike” is in question. The runway is intact, planes still took off and landed the next day. Was it all the equivalent of a fake moon landing? Designed to distract from the ongoing Russia investigations and convince us Trump actually can stand up to Putin?

We will likely never know the whole truth. Was the attack ordered to help Trump in the polls? Why was he concerned about these “beautiful babies” while he has never mentioned the beautiful babies in Darfur that suffered attacks from chemical weapons during the height of the political campaign? It couldn’t be because they were ______?

Americans usually know little about what actually occurs during war. Much of that is by design. This time I’m pretty sure we’ll know even less.

It Is A Dark Day… But Joy Cometh In The Morning

There is no longer any question that Donald Trump is who we thought he was. Steve Bannon is who we thought he was. And their definition of, “Make America Great Again” applies only to some.

Within hours of his blasphemous use of two bibles. He delayed a Federal lawsuit against the State of Texas for its unconstitutional Voter Suppression; implemented the day after the gutting of the Voter Rights Act. The Whitehouse.gov website got rid of its pages dedicated to Civil Rights, Climate Change, LGBT and Native Americans. In other words screw you, you, and you too! His “America First” never meant all Americans. Just those that Trump and Bannon approve of.

His first day actions highlight how meaningful his Cabinet choices are. Sessions who has opposed Civil Rights and supports Voter Suppression. DeVos for has bought her way into a position where she can put her imprint on America’s education system. Putting Charter Schools with no accountability ahead of Public Schools that will be the only option available to you, you and you. Tillerson who has always put his company’s interests ahead of the nations. Despite his campaign statements, Trump hasn’t issued a single tweet on behalf of Planned Parenthood that is the only proximate health care available to many of you, you and you.

There are investigations underway by the entirety of our intelligence operations to determine what role Russia had in our recent election. As we speak they are following up on intercepted communications and tracing the money trail from Russia to the United States. We know Trump people changed language in the Republican Platform at their National Convention favorable to Ukraine and Russia. We still don’t know how or who.

a-a-trump-tillerson

Photo: twitter.com

Trump in ascending to the Presidency made no effort to be the President for all America. I won’t pretend that this is not a dark day in America. Transposed against the departure of the hope and grace that was Obama. We are greeted by the crude, misogynist, nationalist and xenophobic Trump.

In spite of the reality that Trump will never suddenly become anything better. He’s still the son of a Klansman. He marked “C” on rental applications to deny “colored” applicants. He took out a full page ad exhorting the death of the Central Park Five later found to be innocent. He currently supports Stop & Frisk in inner-city communities. Even knowing all that to be true and that a white-nationalist racist is Trump’s chief advisor. Joy still cometh in the morning.

I am reminded that as dark as today is. We’ve had dark days before. In 1857, the “Dred Scott” decision had the Supreme Court said that African-Americans whether free or slave were not American citizens. In 1877, politicians gathered in a smoke filled room to negotiate the winner of the Presidency for one party in return for the removal of Federal troops from the South after the Civil War, effectively ending reconstruction. In 1896, the Supreme Court decided Plessy vs. Ferguson upholding “separate but equal” and state’s right to discriminate. 2010 gave us Citizen’s United and in 2013 the Voter Rights Act enforcement powers were decimated. Even some sunny days were partially cloudy like the clear win of Brown vs. The Board of Education in 1954 being tempered by its implementation “with all deliberate speed” delaying progress for decades.

a-inauguration2

Photo: twitter.com

My point in bringing up all these dark days is that joy indeed cometh in the morning. The arc of the moral universe does bend towards justice but has no respect for complacency. We, and when I say we I still mean you, you and you; must continue to fight for justice. And when we stay focused and don’t get distracted by every shiny object, bad day or tweet. That joy will come. The only variable is what morning not will it arrive.

The best thing about Donald Trump is that he is a clarifying force. He has made the situation perfectly clear. It’s now time for you, you and you to decide what path to take to resist, not whether. The President of the United States has limited power unless unchallenged. We cannot count on the Republican Congress to be that challenge. It must be you… and you… and you! And when you do. It will be then that joy cometh.

When Russia Picks Your President And You Helped

When you’re a Republican elected official and you learn your new President was hand-picked by Russia. What do you do?

Do you recognize how complicit you were in ignoring the evidence always before you? You knew about the ties Paul Manafort the Trump former campaign manager had to Russia and that he’d accepted 12 million in cash from them. And you said nothing.

a-a-trump-russia-manafort

Photo: russia.trendolizer.com

You heard Trump’s son talk about the extensive Russian investments into the Trump businesses. And you ignored it. You watched as Trump himself spread the Putin love. Taking his side against our own President and calling him a better leader.

a-a-trump-russia-son

Photo: blogspot.com

Trump has acted for the last couple years like a man that someone in Russia had pictures of doing something horrible. We now know that’s likely to be true. I personally didn’t need to know about Trump paying prostitutes to pee on a hotel bed. It’s an image that may be hard to get out of my mind. Especially if I consider what Trump was doing at the time.

So if you’re a Republican that has discarded any thread of personal integrity as you bowed down to Trump. If you’ve ignored his inclusion of white supremacists among his advisors and a racist as the Attorney General. How do you ever retrieve the moral high ground, when the Trump voter even now will turn on you if you attempt anything. You knew he selected Putin’s friend as Secretary of State, and you only watched.

Will you continue to do as you’ve previously done which is to ignore and deny as you have since Trump won the Republican nomination? Many of you knew who and what he was before he won the nomination. You called him a racist, a con man, a liar and a fraud. You knew all these things to be true but praised him anyway.

So now you see these reports about Trump and Russia. If there’s anything you know is that these stories will not simply go away. New details will come out. Additional proof will appear. Perhaps a urine stained mattress with DNA?

This is a question you’ll have to answer for yourselves Republicans. I’ve got nothing for you. What are you going to do?

The Manchurian Administration

The Russians hit the lotto when they courted Donald Trump. Because he hasn’t released his taxes we don’t know the extent that his businesses rely on Russian capital. His son Donald Jr. let the cat out of the bag in 2008 when he said, “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.” Trump himself has indicated alternately that he “got along well” with Putin and that he “never met him.”

We knew his one-time campaign Paul Manafort had deep ties to Pro-Russian Ukrainians. He departed the Trump Campaign officially when it was reported he received $12.7 million in cash from a Russian deal he brokered. To keep from being a distraction while under FBI investigation. Manafort left the campaign, but left several of the staffers he brought along behind. Many with Russian ties as well.

We’re just beginning to hear about the extent of Russia’s manipulation of the US Presidential Election with the intention of electing their friend Donald Trump. Is he an unwitting dupe or has be been bought over time and possibly in too deep to extract himself from his Russian handlers. The words from his mouth throughout the campaign suggest he’s a willing participant. His actions since the election and his nomination of Rex Tillerson  for Secretary of State make him Team Putin! Tillerson’s a good friend of Russia with millions at stake if a deal with Russia for exploration of the Arctic and the Gulf of Mexico can be revived. It may well be that out entire foreign policy  team has already been corrupted. The Trump camp has every reason to deny Russia’s involvement in the election despite 17 US Agencies saying it was so and a CIA/FBI briefing before the election to Congressional Leaders. Manafort is still close to Trump. The transition team is still littered with pro-Russian staff and now appointee’s close to Russia are popping up.

a-a-trump-russiann

One might think Republicans would show a little concern about a rival nation selecting our leaders? Apparently Mitch McConnell and others have put party ahead of our National Security and decided better to share a President with Russia than face four more years out of Presidential power. The end result is a President they already have no control over. The question looming is whether it’s because he’s owned by the Russians?

a-a-trump-russiiia

Maybe Trump’s not in bed with the Russians. It could be he’s merely in bed with Neo-Nazi’s and White Nationalists so we can breathe a sigh of relief. Steve Bannon and Jeff Sessions on one side and Putin on the other. Buckle up America. The ride’s just beginning.
